While touring northern Israel, a delegation from the Memphis, Tennessee‘s Orthodox synagogue met with students participating in the Jewish Agency sponsored Ayalim nonprofit organization.
The students are studying at Tel Hai Academic College while living in one of the neighborhoods in Kiryat Shmona. The students and the longtime residents described to the delegation the recent improvements in the community thanks to Ayalim.
Using their own two hands, the students refurbished the apartments, cleaned up the surroundings, and took charge of gardening and neighborhood development. Within the framework of their community activity, the students assist neighborhood children in preparing their lessons, and are administering clubs for both children and adults.
According to Claudine, the neighborhood residents have secured welcome assistance and have gained a new sense of pride ever since Ayalim began operating in the area. The delegation members were favorably impressed by the Zionist fervor of the students. They also enjoyed the beautiful northern scenery that unfolds from the new porch that the students built and were exhilarated by the warm atmosphere that prevails between the veteran residents and the members of the Ayalim nonprofit organization.
