Celebrating 25 Years of Freedom for Natan Sharansky

Natan Sharansky and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu

February 23, 2011 / 19 Adar I 5771

In a moving ceremony attended by leading dignitaries and public figures from the Jewish world, the Jewish Agency honored Natan Sharansky's liberation from Soviet imprisonment 25 years ago. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recognized Sharansky's decades of activism and leadership for democracy and Jewish peoplehood, saying, "The side of freedom, the side of the Jewish people and the side of the Jewish state. That's what you represent. Thank you Natan." For more of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech click here.
